Dr. Bruno Calazans Odizio is an Associate Professor and Research Director of the Department of Interventional Radiology, Division of Diagnostic Imaging, University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center.
He has participated in several JPRs during his residency in radiology in São Paulo as an attendee and, after finishing his training, as a speaker.
For him, the diversity of themes and the multiprofessional inclusive character of JPR are the two great attractions of this meeting. “The inclusion of different subspecialties, as well as the participation of several professionals that compose diagnosis and image intervention, allow us to have a unique panorama of the current state of our profession in Brazil. Finally, the inclusion of information technology, teaching, and research is a testament to the commitment of this meeting to the continuous advancement of our specialty,” he says.
He has been dedicated to clinical practice and research in the treatment and palliation of primary and secondary tumors of the liver by minimally invasive imaging techniques. “I will aim to demonstrate our institutional experience of the role of oncological interventional radiology as a fundamental part of multidisciplinar treatment of cancer patients,” he adds.
According to him, the dissemination of knowledge, economic advancement, increased availability and the consequent use of imaging methods make it possible to bring about the need for information exchange in a more global context; for that reason, “I believe to be critical the participation of foreign guests in such event”.
